where the barn wood comes from

If someone said you could have this barn for free, would you take it? Well we would and we did! It really isn’t free, there is tons of work involved. But the best part is that this one is only 3 miles from our house. So what do we plan to do with it? Take it down and use the materials. We will plane the boards for an authentic real wood floor in our house, all red oak. We will use some of the tin on our own barn, as well as some of the wood. And of course we will build all kinds of beautiful things for other folks to enjoy. And who knows what we might do with the rest. But when we are done, we will find another and do it all over again.

OK, back to this barn. How do you take down a barn? Especially a big barn? One bite at a time. One board at a time. Keep reading…..

You start with a weedwacker, the big heavy duty one the Lord told me to buy a couple years back when He said, “You need big tools for big jobs.” He was speaking spiritually and physically.

The first thing you do is weed wack a path to the barn.

Then you look up at all that beautiful oak wood.

Then you weed wack inside the barn.

Then you notice all the neat stuff underneath all the poison ivy.

What is that thing? Can’t be an outhouse it has a ladder on it!

Then you start taking off boards, one at a time, and putting them in a pile.

Stop to admire, these are nice boards!

Then you put them in the back of the blue FORD truck and bring them home.
